Position: Systems Administrator

In charge of Data Center and over 90 PCs at the Asheville division. This includes 1 Windows 2003 Server Domain Controller as well as 3 Windows based development servers. Other responsibilities include:

User support for 85 users

Security system including webcam setup

Purchasing new PCs, switches, and data center equipment

Backups and off-site storage

Projects:

Played a central role in the relocation of the Asheville office Data Center. This included moving all servers and communications equipment to our new offices.

In less than one year of our move to new offices, we expanded and moved our Customer Support Call Center to another floor. My part included:

· Hiring contractors for network cabling.

· Set up new network switches, routers and UPS equipment.

· Setup of security cameras (webcams)

Position: PC & Network Specialist

In charge of network and all PCs in 2 manufacturing locations – Black Mountain, NC and Goldsboro, NC. The network consists of over 250 PCs, 4 Windows Servers, 1 Novell server, 2 mail servers, 1 Linux server and all related infrastructure, including telephone systems. Responsibilities include:

Purchase of new PCs and systems, including servers, switches, and routers

User support for 150 users plus manufacturing support for 35 PCs

Client Access support for the AS/400

Additional projects include:

Headed project to convert both facilities from Token Ring to Ethernet including design of the new networks, including fiber optic and wireless segments.

Led project to convert all manufacturing related PCs to Windows and upgraded manufacturing software. This reduced the number of helpdesk calls by 70% on the manufacturing floor.

Implemented conversion of 3,500 critical drawings to digital format to be shared on the manufacturing floor.

Headed wireless project for warehouse area resulting in greater mobility for parts inspectors. Project was on time and on budget.

Designed and implemented disaster recovery program.

Purchase and installation of new PC systems, replacing 1/3 of all systems each year. Completed under budget and ahead of schedule each year.

Planning, scheduling and upgrading of network operating system from NetWare 3.11 to NetWare 4.11.

Design, purchase and installation of a new network server.

Researched, specified and installed of a new dial-in system for remote access of the network.

Led a team of 3 in designing and implementing a disaster recovery system.

Specified, procured and installed new network wide tape backup system.

Performed diagnostics and troubleshooting of router and T1 equipment connecting to home office in Washington, D.C. resulting in a 99.8% uptime.
